ENSEMBLES

Silver tarpon marching band

The Marching Band at Port Isabel Early College High School is one of the largest student organization on campus with roughly 120 students involved. The Marching Band consists of students from all concert bands. Marching Band begins with a mini-camp in May, followed by summer band during the month of July, which all participants are require to attend. Once school starts, the Marching Band rehearses three times a week and performs during halftime of all football games. The Marching Band competes in various competitions on Saturdays during the fall, including (but not limited to) the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and it's advancing stages.

Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble features the most advanced musicians in the Port Isabel band program. The Wind Ensemble begins meeting during the 3rd Six Weeks and is made up of students from all grade levels. The Wind Ensemble performs the the most advanced wind literature of the ensembles and continues the development and refine higher musical achievement. The Wind Ensemble will perform many concerts throughout the school year and during the month of April is a participant in the TMEA UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. This select group will also participate in outside musical opportunities to enrich the community and provide performing opportunities for our students. Additionally, these students are expected to show the highest level of professionalism, and participate in UIL solo and ensemble, local Solo & Ensembles assessments and ATSSB region band events.

Symphonic winds

The Symphonic Winds is the secondary concert band within the Port Isabel High School band program. The Symphonic Winds begins meeting during the 3rd Six Weeks and is made up of students from all grade levels. The Symphonic Winds focuses on refining instrument playing skills and performing quality music literature of a higher difficulty level. The Symphonic Winds will perform many concerts throughout the school year and during the month of April is a participant in the TMEA UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. As these students are apart of the band program, they are required to display a high level of respect and professionalism. Students are encouraged to participate in UIL solo and ensemble, local Solo & Ensemble evaluations and ATSSB region band events.

Jazz Ensemble

The Port Isabel High School Jazz Band is an extension of the band program that meets during the Spring Semester. The ensemble consists of students who are members of the band program. Entrance into the Jazz Band requires an audition and is made up of traditional jazz instruments including: saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, bass, drum set and other instruments as needed. The Jazz Band performs numerous concerts and participate at festivals across the state of Texas throughout the year.

Percussion Ensemble

The Port Isabel ECHS Percussion Ensemble, under the leadership of Ramon Perez, is committed to developing well-rounded, expressive musicians. By exploring comprehensive percussion literature, the ensemble sharpens students' technical skills, ensemble awareness, and musical versatility—representing the pride and dedication of the Tarpon Band program.

Silver Line Color Guard

FALL

The Color Guard is a section within the Silver Tarpon Band. Our section is responsible for providing visual enhancements to the marching band's UIL field show through the use of Flags, Rifles and Sabres. During the fall semester, the Color Guard performs at all Friday night Port Isabel Early College High School's Football half-time performances.

SPRING

During the spring semester, our performances and activities move indoors. These indoor productions are choreographed to a recording of music without the presence of the band. Throughout the semester, The Silver Tarpon Cologuard will compete in several competitions throughout the valley (typically on Saturdays).
