Volunteer FAQs

What are the benefits of volunteering at a Pine Hill show?

Apart from the intrinsic satisfaction in knowing that you are contributing to the success of the show, we also offer Pine Hill vouchers for your volunteer time. At the schooling shows you earn $8 an hour and at the USEA shows, the rate is $10 an hour. Vouchers are good for one year for open schooling and show entry fees. Over an above your vouchers, you can earn cool Volunteer Rewards like a Pine Hill cap or a C4 belt. Another benefit if you are a rider is that you learn more about eventing by working at the various volunteer jobs.

Does the Volunteer Rewards Program replace the usual volunteer vouchers we get for volunteering?

Absolutely not! The Volunteer Rewards are an extra Thank You! to our hard-working volunteers. You will still earn volunteer vouchers for the hours you volunteer.

What should I bring when I volunteer?

Bring a chair, hat, food, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and anything else you need to be comfortable while working in your volunteer job. We will provide the materials you need to do your job (pencils, radio, order-of-go, checklists, etc.)

I'm going to the show to watch someone ride and have never volunteered before. Can I still help?

Absolutely! Many of our volunteer positions require no prior experience. For example, cross-country jump judges are great first-timer jobs. We hold a jump judge briefing prior to sending you out on course. You can also check out our volunteer training videos to see what is needed for each job.

What kind of volunteer opportunities are available?

We have opportunities for all phases of the show - dressage, stadium, and cross-country. We also have some general jobs such as Announcer or Parking Attendant. Check out the volunteer training videos to see what the different jobs are.
