December 15, 2023 - The World Health Organization officially recognizes Noma as a neglected tropical disease. 

December 4, 2023 - Global partners pledge US $777 million to combat neglected tropical diseases at the first ever Health Day at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28)

November 9, 2023 - A recent Nature Outlook article discusses how climate change is one of the driving factors contributing to the spread of neglected tropical diseases. 

August 25, 2023 - The first cohort of candidates of the Mwele Malecela Mentorship (MMM) Program for Women in Neglected Tropical Diseases is inaugurated by the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa. 

August 22, 2023 - DCN Dx & BIOASTER announce their collaboration for development of a multiplex rapid diagnostic for Onchocerciasis 

May 16, 2023 - The World Health Organization has certified Benin and Mali as having eliminated Trachoma as a public health problem. 

May 12, 2023 - Bangladesh has been declared  free of Lymphatic Filariasis. 

April 25, 2023 - In a short report out today in Infectious Disease of Poverty, Gruninger et al. suggest that current schistosomiasis prevention and control strategies must be reassessed and incorporate more holistic approaches to ensure health as a human right. 

April 1, 2023 - A recent NPR article raises awareness of Noma, a deadly gangrenous disease that is so neglected, it's not even on the list of neglected tropical diseases. 

March 31, 2023 - The World Health Organization (WHO) hosted its first global meeting on skin NTDs. 

March 3, 2023 - Togo becomes the first country to eliminate four NTDs: Guinea Worm (2011), Lymphatic Filariasis (2017), Sleeping Sickness (2020), and Trachoma (2022). 

February 9, 2023 - U.S. Senator Cory Booker reintroduces the STOP (Study, Treat, Observe, and Prevent) Neglected Diseases of Poverty Act, legislation to address and, ultimately eliminate, neglected diseases of poverty in the United States.

January 26, 2023 - Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) calls for "an improved global response to treat and control NTDs, including through increased global investment for the integration of care for NTDs into primary healthcare services and research and development into NTDs."

January 24, 2023 - The Carter Center announces continued success towards the eradication of Guinea Worm Disease as provisional record low case count is reported
