Intersectional Conversations

Intersectional Conversations is a two-day learning experience to better engage and connect with different people who may have varying practices, values, and beliefs.

EXPLORING AND ENGAGING IN DIVERSITY

This workshop look inward and engage outward through interactive, collaborative, and guided workshops carefully designed to promote intersectional conversations needed to promote justice and inclusion.

Look Inward by checking our own biases, beliefs, character, and attitude to embrace and acknowledge our individual life story with compassion

Engage outward by seeing the world that is deeply connected and not separate from us so we may strive forward and participate in an inclusive and more well-meaning society

“Critical engagement requires questioning, forming and challenging opinions, and feeling outrage or inspiration. It is about helping individuals find their voices and learn to trust their instincts.”

Workshop Objectives

For participants to gain awareness in identifying intersecting lenses, listen with presence, and ask powerful questions required in engaging in intersectional conversations.

We do this by:

  1. Identifying personal lenses
  2. Demonstrating empathy
  3. Exercising communication skills in active listening and asking powerful questions

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SAY

"I love the atmosphere. The discussions are so humane. It's not like the webinars I've attended which focused more on discussions and a limited time allotted for Q&A. The hosts are encouraging everyone to speak anytime."

- Aberon Syn Kasim, Student

"I was able to share for the very first time, in a public and virtual platform, the saddest and most painful experience in my life. This is the best moment for me because I conquered my fear.

It feels like I won a battle through sharing where I got more energy and positivity in life. There are people who are willing to support and understand your point of view, and people that you can inspire through your story."

- Albert Lee, Procurement Officer

"As someone who is not that confident in speaking, this workshop really gave me a safe space where I can express myself. It helped boost my confidence and it's also because of my fellow participants who were willing to listen to me despite our differences."

- Cara Joyce Aguinaldo

"I appreciate having an open space where anyone can share their stories and any feelings/emotions are valid. Stories that can impact ourselves and how we see differences and start understanding and embracing them. Our voice matters, so do our stories."
