My Professional Development within the School of Engineering are as follows:
I am the Chairperson of the Engineering Research, Ethics and Quality Assurance Committee (EREQAC) which governs and monitors professional and voluntary organisation registration and governance for all full-time academics to ensure that they comply and show growth within their respective fields.
I was involved with specifying, sourcing and commissioning the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory and finalising the Chemistry and Physics Laboratory at IIE MSA.
I also assisted in specifying the equipment and their layout for all the IIE Varsity College Cape Town and IIE Varsity College Durban Westville Engineering Laboratories.
I developed an Engineering Mark Repository database as a redundancy tool to store internal records of all Engineering marks, implementing the MIS to calculate CASS and final marks automatically. This database allows the Engineering Team to draw insights when briefing Developers and Lecturers to ensure difficult-to-grasp concepts are highlighted, providing a continual quality assurance process.
I was trained as an Intellectual Integrity Officer in 2022 and was actively involved in Level 3 Intellectual Dishonesty Investigations in 2023.
I am developing a training programme to ensure that all qualifying Engineering Academics at the IIE conform to the Engineering Council of South Africa's (ECSA) requirements that all Engineering Academics should be registered as Professional Engineers before the proposed deadline of 1 April 2025.
Obtained my PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a thesis titled: Fatigue life enhancement of Ti-6Al-4V ELI parts by optimizing the machining strategy for a compressive residual stress field.
Submitted my Professional Engineering application to the Engineering Council of South Africa and is expected to have an outcome by the end of 2024.
