Having looked at our research themes, if you believe we have shared interest and you would like us to work together please do send an email at pnmishra[at]iitk.ac.in or p.mishra[at]uq.edu.au

But before you send an email, please take a moment to go through the following.

Undergraduate research/Summer research fellowship/Internship

[1]. For IIT Kanpur students

How to apply: Please send me an email with your CV and area of interest, and we will catch up for a discussion. Our interdisciplinary research themes liberate us from the boundaries of working with students only from Civil Engineering. So your department of enrolment is immaterial so long as you have the passion to be dedicated to learn something new and to apply what you already know. There's an established support mechanism from the institute (IIT Kanpur) through the SURGE program (https://surge.iitk.ac.in/index.php).

[2]. For non-IIT Kanpur students

How to apply: Please send me an email with your CV and area of interest, and we will catch up for a discussion. However, please note at this stage we can only accommodate students formally selected through the SURGE program (https://surge.iitk.ac.in/index.php).

Postgraduate research (PhD/MS/MTech)

[1]. For domestic (Indian citizens) and international (with OCI and/or PIO) applicants

The institute (IIT Kanpur) has well defined mechanisms in place for both domestic and international applicants for admission into our PG programs at IIT Kanpur. These often involve qualifying competitive exams (such as GATE), written exams and/or interviews at departmental level. If you are a prospective PG student, please apply for our PG programs through the links below.

Once you are enrolled at IIT Kanpur and interested to work together with us, please send us an email and we will arrange a time to discuss.

[2]. For international applicants (without OCI and/or PIO)

There are several opportunities available for international students, and further details can be found on the website of office of international relations (OIR). https://www.iitk.ac.in/oir/student-fellowships

We will be happy to support candidates with shared research interest in the application process.

We may post vacancies sponsored through projects and joint PhD programs with other universities from time to time. Currently, no such vacancies exist.

Postdoctoral fellows

We are particularly keen to hear from fresh PhDs (on soon to graduate with a PhD) with hands on experience in one or more of the following areas: (a) dielectric measurements on soil/porous media (b) biomineralisation and/or other biomediated pathways in geotechnical engineering  (c) shear wave assisted measurement of soil properties

International and domestic faculty and research colleagues

We welcome collaborations with international and domestic colleagues (faculties and senior researchers). This could involve co-delivering a course, a sabbatical, joint research supervision, joint sponsored/consulting projects and research visits. We are aware of some opportunities to support these activities, and would been glad to hear your suggestions too.
