Libraries
Kilometres and kilometres of shelves contain, in writing, the ideas that make up the structures that support reality, what we are; there is everything there ... or at least there is the known information. However, it is information, not knowledge stricto sensu. Knowledge is what each one builds in his mind when he contacts new information, relates them to what he already knows and finally gets a unique and genuine product.
Certainly the libraries facilitate the encounter with the knowledge and, what is more interesting, from the specialties of each one, from the way in which the books are classified and ordered, based on the relationships that we can establish between all of them Factors, we will discover that knowledge is not at all unicursal; There are many simultaneous knowledge.
Aby Warburg (1866-1929) conceptualized, and put into practice, the "neighbouring" of books, as a classification formula, in his prodigious Mnemosyne library in Hamburg. He opened an intelectual itineraries in order to put in contact thoughts that could to shed light on a subject or, why not, to construct the own subject. That open an infinite perspective.
This fascinating idea led me, of course, to another project, still under construction, and faithful to my method, I started this series of photographs; a kind of immersion in the lands of books to try, at the way of an anthropologist, to understand how they relate, books, people, ideas ... and, in the end, to see what stay from all this.
