Dr. Olivier Monfort has been invited to deliver a talk about his ongoing research at the Conference on Novel Trends in Chemistry - Research and Education (NTCH 2025) organized by the University of Pavol Jozef Safarik in Kosice.
Dr. Olivier Monfort and Dr. Shalu Atri attended the MXene Symposium 2025 organized in the frame of the IEEE Nanomaterials and Applications Conference (IEEE NAP 2025) in Bratislava, Slovakia where they gave talks on our ongoing research.
A reportage about Olivier Monfort from our department has been released on TV Markiza. He is telling about his life in Slovakia and, of course, his scientific research at the M² group.
Olivier Monfort received the prestigious award of the Scientist of the Year 2024 of the Slovak republic, in the category of the Young Scientific Researcher, for his exceptional contribution in the field of wastewaters treatment research based on environmentally sustainable chemical processes using new unconventional materials and photochemistry. Dr. Monfort insists on the fact that the award is not "his" award, but the award of his research team (the M² group).
Dr. Olivier Monfort and Dr. Shalu Atri attended the 7th Conference on Environmental Application of Advanced Oxidation Processes (EAAOP7) in Paestum, Italy where they presenting on our ongoing research in the form of talk and poster.
In the frame of the PLANTED project on “Sustainable plasma and bio-based wastewater micropollutant treatment – Education and outreach network” (website: http://enviro.fmph.uniba.sk/planted/) which brings together research groups from Belgium (Ghent University), Estonia (University of Tartu) and Slovakia (Comenius University Bratislava), the M² group has co-organized the training school!
Our postdoc fellow Shalu Atri under the supervision of Dr. Olivier Monfort has received the Young Scientist Award by Springer Nature at the VBCB-2025 conference, India (Viksit Bharat 2047: Reaching the Unreached Through Chemical and Biological Sciences). This conference is focused on the development of India based on pillars like Youth and Women.
Assoc. Prof. Olivier Monfort gave an invited talk about the research directions developped at the M² group, especially on the protection of the water resource: an environmental challenge. You could also met him and his team members at the M² group stand during the whole time of the conference where they introduced the research activities of the group.
In the frame of the SOLAREM project, a bilateral project between the M² group and Université Clermont Auvergne, CNRS, Institut de Chimie de Clermont-Ferrand (UCA, CNRS, ICCF), prof. Marcello Brigante, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, UCA France and Ing. Guillaume Voyard, Head of the Chromatography Analytical Platform at ICCF, are giving invited talks about environmental photochemistry.
Dr. Olivier Monfort and his PhD students, Sridhar Gowrisankaran and Arshitha Madhusudan, attended the 15th European Congress on Catalysis (EuropaCat 2023) in Prague, Czechia where oral and poster communications have be given by our research group.
Arshitha Madhusudhan, our PhD student, has attended the Scientific Student Conference of the Comenius University Bratislava, Faculty of Natural Sciences (eSVK2023) where she gave a talk on the effect of hydrochar on the photo-induced activity of magnetite for the removal of Rhodmaine B. She was awarded the price of the Slovak Chemical Sosiety for her outstanding oral presentation.
Arshitha, congratulations!
Dr. Olivier Monfort attended the 11th European Conference on Solar Chemistry and Photocatalysis: Environmental Applications (SPEA11) in Turin, Italy where he gave a talk on our ongoing research.
On Friday the 29th of April 2022, our PhD students (Guru Karthikeyan Thirunuvakkarasu, Sridhar Gowrisankaran and Viktoriia Liapun) were invited to give a talk at the 10th Czech-Polish Catalytic Symposium (CzePoCat2022). Thank you to our collaborators at the Technical University of Ostrava, Institute of Environmental Technology (namely Prof. Kamila Koci and Dr. Marcel Sihor) for this invitation.
On Thursday the 30th of September 2021, Dr. Olivier Monfort finished at the 2nd place in the finale of the Falling Walls Lab Slovakia with his performance on breaking the walls of Environmental Photochemistry. You can watch the whole finale (which was recorded) on YouTube.
