Personality:
If you want to hire a professional photographer their personality alone can tell you a lot about how he or she will play with your pictures and give you eye-catching images that will not only tell you something about them, but will also provide more of an accurate representation of your personality. Many people, while being able to tell you their personality, may not necessarily be the "right" personality for the picture being taken. In this case, when you hire a professional photographer, you get an image that represents you, and it's you who best knows you through your website/ blog/ articles etc.
Now, while personality may be important, it's more important to know your personality in order to determine exactly how someone will fit into your everyday life. For example, an emotionless, moody photographer just won't fit into your everyday life.
How Passionate are they? As I mentioned above, when you hire a professional photographer it's important to know what someone will bring to the table. What makes you want to do business with them? Do you like them? The same person who seems very passionate about what he/she does is not always going to close a deal. In addition, I meet people every day who do not have the passion for what they do. For example, on a shoot you can tell when some people are just going through the motions. But seeing real effort in their face proves that some people don’t go to work every single day purely to earn money. This is why it is really important to hire a professional photographer that enjoys their job, this will show in the images.
Availability: Sounds simple, but sometimes people know too much about a photographer or they might be in a good situation or they want to be, but not able to gather any more pertinent information about the photographer. If you're looking to hire a professional photographer for your event, place, product, or other similar organization, try to find someone who understands business, because there are a lot of bad business people out there who don't.
For the same reason I discussed above, some people think they are better than other people. They think that he/she is just like them. While this is partially true and sometimes possible, pay attention to the other person's personality and if he/she is a good fit, you can just as easily hire a professional photographer outside of the work that he/she does. If you don't want to inadvertently have a hard time making a rational argument for your new hiring of that person. While it is perfectly OK at times to hire a non-charismatic hire, remember some people are just different.
Keep in mind however that not all non-charismatic people will be a bad fit for you. Actually, if you're going to hire a professional photographer because of knowledge you've gained about photography, you hired him/her and won't need to change their personalities once the photos are taken. But if you are looking to hire a professional photographer just because you want a person with a loving personality, you will be in for a world of pain, Mentally as he/she will treat you terribly. It is also partially true today that a beautiful self-coordinated portrait or work portfolio is of no use in the real world. Although the original photographer's compliments, even thoughts of admiration, before the photos were taken might go well with friends and family.
Price:
Price is the last major factor in looking to hire a professional photographer, but it is definitely not the deciding factor. When you're choosing to be a professional photographer, your money matters more than...Hey, I don't care, 'cause you're gonna get what you pay for. Great pic, great interview, great letter, perfect admiration, will you practice this picture for me, I want to keep it! That's fine... but you still think you're paying a pretty penny, and get frustrated when you get what you paid for. But when you hire a professional photographer you will have to pay a fair market amount but you will get great quality. This graphic designer who asks for twenty bucks per hour is probably good at graphic design and good at creating work of skilled subject matter. The quality he/she wants to create excellent photos, and you want good quality photos at a good price. The above is one of those people, and you don't want to be having very last minute meetings with them.
