The directory is developed from publicly available practice information, including Google Places-style listings and practice websites. While care is taken to classify practices consistently, the information may be incomplete, outdated, or may not represent the entirety of a practice’s services, ownership structure, staffing, or clinical capability
Specialty classifications reflect services that are publicly advertised or clearly identifiable from available information. They should not be interpreted as a complete record of every service provided by every practitioner at that site
Corporate practice = owned or operated by a centralised parent company, retail chain, health insurer, or optical group
Independent practice = locally owned or operated, including banner-group members not owned by the banner group
Ophthalmologist = ophthalmology, eye specialist, or medical eye clinic settings where optometry may be provided within or alongside ophthalmic care
Other = university, hospital, government, not-for-profit, mobile, multidisciplinary, or otherwise non-standard practice settings
Public ophthalmology services are identified primarily from official government and health-service information. Included locations provide recurring onsite ophthalmology, including permanent, visiting, outreach, contracted, surgical, subspecialty, or facilitated teleophthalmology services. One-off outreach, referral-only locations, and telehealth without a defined local service site are excluded. Service availability and scope may vary over time
The directory is intended for workforce transparency, service-access mapping, business planning, research, and employee-focused advocacy. It should not be treated as a complete commercial directory or an endorsement of any listed practice
