Our Mission
At Phoenix Hedgehog Rescue, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release sick, injured, orphaned and vulnerable hedgehogs, giving them the best possible opportunity to recover and return to the wild.
Based in The Walpoles area of Norfolk, we are committed to providing compassionate, responsible and high quality care to every hedgehog that comes through our doors.
What We Do
Our work focuses on three key areas:
🦔 Rescue & Rehabilitation
We provide a safe environment for hedgehogs in need, offering appropriate housing, nutrition, warmth, medical care and rehabilitation throughout their recovery.
Each hedgehog is assessed as an individual, with care tailored to its needs and circumstances.
Where possible, our ultimate aim is to release recovered hedgehogs back into suitable wild habitats.
🌿 Education & Awareness
Hedgehogs face many challenges, including habitat loss, road traffic, garden hazards, lack of food and water, and other consequences of human activity.
We believe education is an important part of protecting them.
By sharing knowledge and encouraging responsible wildlife friendly practices, we hope to help communities understand how they can make a real difference to the hedgehogs living around them.
❤️ Building a Sustainable Future
Phoenix Hedgehog Rescue has risen again following a period of significant change and rebuilding.
We have worked hard to establish a new rescue base and put the equipment, facilities and supplies in place that are needed to provide appropriate care.
Our next step is to strengthen those foundations and develop a sustainable rescue capable of continuing its work for years to come.
That means ensuring we have the resources to respond when hedgehogs need us; not only today, but in the future.
Our Commitment
We are committed to:
Putting the welfare of every hedgehog first
Providing compassionate and responsible rehabilitation
Maintaining appropriate standards of hygiene, housing and care
Working with veterinary professionals when medical treatment is required
Releasing hedgehogs responsibly when they are fit and ready to return to the wild
Continuing to learn, improve and develop our rescue
Raising awareness of the threats facing hedgehogs
Working with our local community to encourage wildlife-friendly environments
Using donations responsibly and transparently
Help Us Continue Our Mission
Our rescue cannot operate without the support of our community.
Veterinary treatment, specialist food, medication, heating, housing, cleaning supplies, equipment, utilities and transport all come at a cost.
As we continue rebuilding Phoenix Hedgehog Rescue, financial support from individuals, businesses and organisations will help us establish the stability needed to continue providing care.
Whether through a one-off donation, regular sponsorship, practical support or funding for a specific item, every contribution helps us care for vulnerable hedgehogs.
Our mission is simple:
Rescue, Rehabilitate, Release
and give hedgehogs the chance to rise again.
