SUBJECT: GUIDELINES ON THE USE OF "CMHEP" AS A DESCRIPTIVE TITLE

The Philippine Maritime Educators Association, Inc. (PHILMEA) formally issues this advisory to all successful certificate holders regarding the proper usage of the Certified Maritime Higher Education Professional (CMHEP) designation.

To maintain the prestige and uniformity of our professional community, please adhere to the following naming conventions for official correspondence, signatures, and professional profiles.

We encourage all certified members to carry this title with pride and integrity, as it serves as a beacon of quality for the Filipino maritime industry.

Official Format

The designation should be placed immediately following your name, separated by a comma.

Format: Your Full Name, CMHEP
Example: Capt. John D. Cruz, CMHEP

SUBJECT: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CMHEP CERIFICATION

• Education : Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation/Engineering , or Electrical Related Degree

• IMO Model Course : IMO MC 6.09 , IMO MC 3.12 , IMO 6.10

• Maritime Credentials: MARINA Registered Maritime Professional (RMarP) as OIC-NW/EW or Management Level Officers, and not less than 12 months as Officer-in-Charge in a seagoing vessel of not less 500 Grt and not less 750kW.

• Teaching Credentials: at least 1 semester in the Recognized Maritime Higher Education Institutions (MHEI) (If available), and No pending administrative records.

SUBJECT: DIGITAL IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM (DIS)

DIS will be issued to all educators who have successfully undergone the rigorous verification process and attained the status of Certified Maritime Higher Education Professional (CMHEP).

The DIS serves as the primary credential for participation in the PHILMEA-led seminars, international research forums, and policy making consultations.

SUBJECT: MANDATORY THEORETICAL VALIDATION EXAM FOR CMHEP CERTIFICATION

In pursuance of Advisory No. 17, Series of 2026, the Philippine Maritime Educators Association, Inc. (PHILMEA) hereby informs all applicants that the completion of the application process does not automatically grant certification.

All candidates for the Certified Maritime Higher Education Professional (CMHEP) designation must successfully take and pass the Theoretical Examination to validate their competency and alignment with the standards of the Center of Accreditation and Certifications (CAC).
