Matthew 8:1-4 (KJV)
1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
Philippians 2:1-30 (KJV)
He Humbled Himself
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
23 Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.
24 But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
25 Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellow soldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
26 For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:
30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
Matthew 12:38-42 (KJV)
On Wanting to See Miracles at Anytime
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
He Humbled Himself...That is a hard thing to do...We all like to be recognized and appreciated by others...But Jesus often when He healed others told them not to tell others...He was not seeking recognition from His miracles...
Jesus who was God in the flesh, the Son of Man, the Son of the Blessed One humbled Himself...This is hard for us to understand, how one Man of this Nature or His Nature could humble himself and be like He was...After all He could do anything...He do do any miracles, and He could heal anyone...And because He was so mild mannered, and full of grace, mercy, forgiveness and humility, we just cannot quite put our finger on how He is divine...Greatness and these characteristics are not always how we see things as man on earth...
Let's face it, if we were divine we might do things different and try some things...Jesus had the power to do miracles, any miracle...Many of us if we had His power to do miracles, we might use it for personal or family gain...We might do miracles to show our greatness...If one ask, or if anyone ask, if we had the power to do miracles, we might just do one, to show people we can or could do a miracle at anytime...Jesus was not like that...He only did miracles to prove He was from God, and did them for God's glory...
I often think of about a personal miracle that God or Jesus might do for me...The question of why can't you do a personal miracle here and now was answered when the Pharisees and certain scribes -when they ask for a miracle in front of them...His miracles were not about this, and not like this...He did no miracles or signs for show, or for His own ego...His miracles were apart of where He was at and a part of His life...He did not go out of the way just to do a miracle...
Sometimes I think because He was so poor, and had no reputation, and showed us great and perfect humility, we find it hard to believe that He was sent from God...As strange as it may sound, because of these characteristics, they make it believable and yet unbelievable at the same time...Had He been more flashy and showy and more pomp and circumstance, and more like a star and celebrity, I sometimes think some unbelievers would have believed Him more...This was not who He is or who God is...But this Humble Man is what a Man would be like, if He were God in the Flesh...
