Medicine Wheel Teaching
The Medicine Wheel is an Indigenous teaching of life.
It represents all aspects of Earth cycles, as well as all the cycles of our personal life.
Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
It is our connection to all.
This is a one-day ceremony teaching that will take you through the meaning of the sacred directions.
We will be walking the Medicine Wheel, guiding you in protocol,
re-establishing our connection to nature and nature's principles.
You will discover how the wheel applies to everyday life.
Learn about the animal spirit that represents where you are currently.
This is a teaching and a ceremony.
Teepee Teachings
Learning the importance and meaning of each teepee pole.
The Teepee is more than just poles and canvas.
There is meaning in every aspect. Every pole has a meaning. Each pole is placed exactly.
From the rope, poles to the canvas, you will learn how to set up the teepee, proper protocol, and the meaning of each pole.
First, we start with our training teepee. This is a much smaller version of the full size.
Then participants will set up the full- size teepee.
This will give participants a chance to see how the teepee is constructed, the reasons why it is set up in a particular order.
Lifestyle history.
Teepee Set up
For schools, orgainizations and private citizens.
We will set up your teepee with proper protocol and a Blessing Ceremony.
Sweetgrass and the Seven Sacred Grandfather teachings
One day teaching ceremony.
Learn about the teachings of Sweetgrass.
The meaning of life that is woven into the braid.
The Seven Sacred teachings of the Grandfathers, will take you into the priniciples of nature, connection yourself and others.
You will be guided to that inner silence, a place of connection as we move through each of these teachings.
Newo Indigenous Teachings
This program is designed for school age children and follows the current curriculum.
This is a full day workshop where participants visit newo (4) different teaching stations. The students will learn about the Teepee set up and teachings, Metis lifesytle and the trappers tent, Talking stick circle and craft, Medicine wheel building and teaching, and games along the way.
Awasis Teachings
Awasis means Child in Cree
We teach from a Cree Metis perspective, drawing from our teachings and personal experiences.
This is a program for 3 to 5 year olds.
They will be learning about the Metis and First Nation culture, through hands-on learning. This includes stories, crafts, games, cree numbers and cree words. We have a component of nature connection, with scavenger hunts, nature walk, plant walk and the medicine wheel.
This is a fun, interactive program which teaches social studies, visual art, culture, language and physical education.
Bannock making
Bannock making is fun and easy.
Learn from our family expert on how to make traditional fried, baked or over the open fire.
As taught by our Kookum.
Crafts
Beading
Make your own prayer or smudging feather.
Beads are a magical world; they can take you into a deep space of silence and introspection. They can show you the aspects of yourself and life that you may not be aware of. This is part of creating your own personal medicine and connection with nature.
Connect to your inner creativity. Enter the peaceful, calm space of beading.
This is a half day workshop. All materials will be supplied.
