It all started with a vision to bring back our cultural teachings!
30 years ago, our teachings began here at Shining Images Retreat Center. Gary and Alice Berger created the vision to bring healing and teaching of our Ancestors to people seeking out a deeper connection to themselves, connection to Nature and connection to Creator.
Shining Images Retreat center was zoned as a retreat center by the Brazeau County in 1992.
Ceremonies like Sweat lodge, In Earth healings, Medicine Wheel, Moon lodge, and The portrait of self, were offered and well attended over the years.
When truth and reconciliation was initiated by the Government of Canada, the community of Drayton Valley began to reach out to us asking if we would share our cultural knowledge.
Since then we have been creating and teaching programs to community organizations, agencies, corporations, schools, and offer our teachings to individuals. We have been building relationships and providing teachings for, Brighter Futures, Town of Drayton Valley, Star Catholic School Division in Drayton Valley, Leduc, Beaumont and Wetaskiwin. The Wild Rose School Division in Drayton Valley, Rocky Mountain House, David Thompson School. Eagle Point Blue Rapids, Rimbey Municipal Library, West Fraser, Drayton Valley Youth Hub, and Public School Boards' Association of Alberta.
Peyak Aski, which mean One Land, in Cree, was created and registered in 2022.
It is our vision to continue with our traditional teachings and knowledge. To bring back culture, healing and connection for all people, to nature and our Mother Earth.
