Alice Berger - Swirling Water Woman
Alice is a Cree Métis Elder, Knowledge Keeper, healer, and educator. She offers guidance, wisdom, and Indigenous teachings to support community relationships and advance reconciliation efforts. Alice is frequently consulted for her expertise on protocol, Indigenous perspectives, and teachings for both youth and adults. She serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Friendship Centre in Rocky Mountain House. As a respected Elder within the community, she is often requested to conduct Blessing and Smudging ceremonies at various events.
Linda Prentice
Linda is a Cree Elder, Knowledge Keeper, Educator, and Registered Social Worker. She holds a degree in social work and has been committed to promoting awareness of Indigenous traditions imparted by her parents and relations. Originating from a distinguished lineage of Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and healers, she has dedicated the past six years to educating schools and communities through teachings, crafts, and storytelling. Additionally, she authored a manual titled *Awasis (Children) Teachings for 3 to 5-Year-Olds*.
Wanda Schiller - Whiteswan Woman
Wanda is a Cree Métis Medicine Woman, Knowledge Keeper, healer, and educator.
She hails from a distinguished lineage of Indigenous Medicine Healers, Knowledge Keepers, and teachers, inheriting wisdom and practices from her Kookum, Mooshum, and other Indigenous experts. With 30 years of experience, Wanda has dedicated her career to providing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing.
Ian Sashuk
Ian is a Cree Metis and represents the next generation of knowledge keepers within his family of healers. His journey began at the age of 5, when he crafted his own drum. Participating in healing circles, Ian imparts words of wisdom and speaks about the power of love. He possesses natural gifts of insight, humour, and wisdom. Under the mentorship of his uncle, Ian has learned teepee protocol and the process of setting up a teepee. He approaches this teaching with an openness characterized by joy and laughter.
Olivia Thebeau
Olivia is a Cree Metis and represents the next generation of knowledge keepers. Born into a lineage of traditional medicine, she possesses a natural intuition and healing abilities. Immersed in cultural teachings and ceremonies from a young age, Olivia brings joy, beauty, and gentleness to her teachings. She is also a natural artist with a passion for painting, beading, and playing the guitar. Committed to continuous learning and expanding her skill set, Olivia is currently pursuing photography. She holds a diploma in Business Management from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).
Annette Darling
Annette is a Cree knowledge keeper with a profound affection and connection to the plant and animal kingdoms. She holds a diploma in Animal Health Technology as well as a diploma in Environmental Monitoring and Protection. Annette has mastered the art of bannock making, having learned it from our Kookum. Whether fried or baked, she has perfected this traditional skill.
