CAP elements

CAP stands for the Candidate Assessment for Performance and is used in Massachusetts to evaluate teachers in both their student teaching and during their work as a full time teacher. Throughout my time teaching I was expected to follow these state guidelines and was evaluated based on my performance at reaching at least Proficient in all of the categories. These categories (listed below) each had a specific set of guidelines I was to reach during my experience. Although CAP evaluates teachers, it is extremely beneficial to students as well as it allows for administrations to find their weak points in the school system and provide professional development or other intervention if required. Although not perfect, these categories encompass most of the major interactions I had in the classroom with both students and my mentor teacher.
