My research interests revolve around the neural basis of self-control and emotional regulation, with the prefrontal cortex being central to these circuits. Related to this, my earlier work examined the role of extinction learning and memory in the brain mechanisms of behavioral inhibition. Now my lab is examining how these circuits regulate choice between distinctly valued rewards. We are also screening novel pharmacological agents, including psychedelic-like compounds, as potential treatments for substance use disorders in rodent models.
