Course 4: Agency and Organization Theory

COURSE 4: AGENCY THEORY AND ORGANIZATION THEORY

Relative to Course 1, this version of the course would de-emphasize most of Part 3 (on recruitment, selection, and wage-setting) with the exception of Chapter 19, which discusses relationship-specific investments, hoidup, and multiskilling.

This course would emphasize the theoretical models of agency more, highlight the discussions of job design (Sections 5.5 and 27.2) and focus more on tournaments and teams. Here I would add especially Section 22.4 on promotion ladders and selection tournaments, and Chapters 26 and 27, which cover team performance and organizational structure.
