I'm not a big reader but i enjoyed this 4 book series. I found it well balanced. Good character development. some humor, enough suspense to keep me reading but not make me tense. As an American I enjoyed the cultural references to the UK and Philippines. While satisfied with the conclusion- I still see an opening for the next chapter. I hope to read more by author Peter Draper

“I stand before you ladies and gents, the fine figure of several men!  And I hear you saying to each other, ‘Why do they call him Two Dinners Terry?’  Well I’ll tell you why, because my name’s Terry, pretty simple really if you think about it. BUT, I am here tonight to give you men a warning though, consider this a PSA – NEVER cheat on your wife.  While you may think it’s exciting to get some strange on a regular basis, there are hidden dangers. The worst of which is that you have to eat two dinners, one with the bit of fluff and one with the missus when you get home. I used to be able to hide behind this mic stand I was so skinny, take a fucking look at me now!”

This quote gives you a very good indication of what to expect from this book: ‘smarty-pants’, quick-witted characters, an incredible voice and a spectacular narrative packed with action, but also tenderness. The plot is very well developed, there are no loose threads or questions that remain unanswered. Everything will become clear in the end. The pace is fast, but not rushed, the characters are a paper representation of your friends and family, they look like them, they live like them, they even talk like them!

And the end will leave you with your mouth hanging open.

This book is a delight from the first to the last line, one of those books that I wouldn’t mind to read again in the future! But for now we will focus on Peter’s next book which is no more than a bunch of jotted lines so far, but we are sure it will grow big and strong just like the others!

Charlie “Chuds” Douglas returns to Gravesend in the UK after 18 years, previously living and working in the USA. He meets up with old friends and colleagues, meaning to make a mark again in his hometown. But there is trouble from Basha and his minders, every step of the way...

The King Of Gravesend is a fast-paced read, entertaining and gritty - all in all, an enjoyable read.

I live in Gravesend (in Kent) and recognised all the places, streets and a name or two mentioned.

Sometimes funny, others tragic or brutal, this well-written novella should keep you captivated.

I used to live in Gravesend; the vignettes of the place are accurate and vibrant. I read this very quickly as, frankly, I didn't want to put it down. Great humour and a strong storyline. I heartily recommend it.

Exciting read, especially the last quarter of the book; recommended

The King Of Gravesend is Bored is the sequel to the King Of Gravesend but can be read as a standalone novel.

The same main characters are here, Chuds and Ro, as well as other characters you can find in the first book. The villain, Bash Basha, makes an unlikely appearance near the beginning, with revenge on his drug-addled mind...but I won't say any more there as it would be a spoiler.

So Chuds, despite his successful business called Regal Modular Entertainment being highly successful, is bored and restless, wanting another project to "get his teeth into". He and his girlfriend Ro decide to open a Fusion Restaurant in Gravesend, and to that end, they embark on an exciting trip to the Philippines to check out street food, menu dishes and drinks typical of that country. The descriptions of the food is very well done, the exotic names and tastes being well written, so much so that it makes me want to find a Filipino Restaurant to sample some of them!

The King Of Gravesend Is Bored is more laid-back than the first book of the series, but still maintaining a page turning quality - that is, until the last fifth of the book - an exciting and brutal twist occurs to keep you glued to the pages.

Overall, the writing quality is very good and well done too. It is sprinkled with witty and amusing dialogue. I can recommend The King of Gravesend Is Bored.
