Klondike Goldfields (Yukon Territory, Canada): Three field seasons for a total of 8 days spent retrieving and collecting subfossil megafaunal remains (2016, 2022, 2023) and sediments (2023) directly from permafrost.

European Alps (Austria, Italy, France): One month spent coring lake sediments in summer conditions.

Troms and Finnmark (Northern Norway): Three weeks spent coring lake sediments in winter (ice cover) conditions.

Saint Paul Island (Pribilofs, Alaska, USA): Eleven days spent on an island in the Bering Sea collecting paleontological specimens, and modern plant and soil material.

LacCore (University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA): Three days spent sampling a lake sediment core from Saint Paul Island for ancient DNA.

Swedish Museum of Natural History (NRM) (Stockholm, Sweden): Two days were spent collecting Palaearctic beetle samples for DNA analysis.
