The award winner is described as a spearhead in his field of research and has excelled with his collaborative projects and discoveries. The award winner is an expert in the application and development of ancient DNA methodologies, and his recent collaborative project, in which the world's oldest DNA was found in a mammoth tooth, has received local, national and international attention.
