Lecture given by Robert Šámal and Václav Rozhoň: [website] [last year]
Credit requirements:
Get at least 100 points (from at least 150 available points), for quizzes and homework assignments.
Quizzes: There will be three quizzes (closed book, ~30 mins), each worth roughly 50 points, on the following dates:
- November 4
- November 25
- December 16
Only the best 2 quizzes count. The quizzes will mostly contain problems similar to those done in class or given as homework, there might also be questions of the form "define a concept / formulate a statement from the lecture".
Homework assignments: During the semester there will be several homework assignments, worth roughly 50 points in total. The assignments are to be submitted within 1-2 weeks via Owl (to sign up, use the token 27a53dadf3ca). If you submit the assignment by Friday 23:59, then I will probably comment on it by the next tutorial.
About the homework assignments: The main purpose of the assignments is for you to check how well you understand the material covered so far. To get full points from an assignment, you don't have to solve the entire task correctly, but you do need to: (i) submit it on time, (ii) convince me that you made some effort, and (iii) only write what is true. If you get stuck, I recommend consulting someone or something. Consultations have no effect on the number of points you get, but you must openly disclose them. Example: If you submit "I got to X on my own, then ChatGPT suggested Y, but it seems to me that Y only works with the extra assumption Z and without it I don't know how to proceed." you will typically get full points. If you write something which is not true, you will typically don't get points.
Participation in the tutorials is optional.
