Pendulum Chronicle (PC) and Ang Tipolenyo (AT), the Antipolo City National Science and Technology High School (ACNSTHS) School Publications, commenced its annual Journalism Workshop “Hubog-Sikhay” together with Cabading Elementary School students, aiming to hone journalistic abilities of elementary and secondary learners.
On September 28, school publications spearheaded the 12 workshop session and a school press conference (SPC) for AnScians, aiming to secure a spot for Division School Press Conference (DSPC) to be held in November.
Moreover, publications held a workshop outreach program for the elementary journalists of Cabading ES, upskilling their journalism skills.
An elementary participant, Gerardo Elandez said that he was grateful that the publications of ACNSTHS held an event for journalists like him, marking that the outreach program helped him to have a knowledge about writing an article considering that it was his first time.
Kate Todoc, Cabading ES student also shared that she experienced a lot during the workshop in the News Writing Category, highlighting that she was unaware of what to do at first yet the speaker still managed to give her instructions on how to write properly.
AT Editors-in-Chief (EIC) statement regarding their initial plan for this event.
In addition, Karyl Ipac, PC EIC said that they changed the initial plan for the outreach program due to location impediment, pitching that the DSPC is about to happen and the publications wanted to teach the elementary students regarding their chosen categories.
“Si mam ciar nag-suggest niyan. Since malapit lang din ang Cabading [ES] sa atin and ang gagawin naman namin is magturo and malapit na journ season, napagdesisyunan yun nalang gawin namin para at least ma-impart din sa kanila as growing journalists ung mga lessons na natutunan natin from the speakers that we invite,” she added.
Meanwhile, secondary students of ACNSTHS that will clinch the first place for their respective categories will be the delegates of the school for the upcoming DSPC this year, making this event a competition and training for division-wide competition.
