Tainted Triumph

What should have been a moment of honor and recognition, has collapsed into a public display of mismanagement. The 2026 Reconfigured Regional Schools Press Conference (RRSPC), hosted by Rizal Cluster in Region IV-A CALABARZON was meant to restore its journalistic prestige but instead drew widespread public scrutiny from many campus journalists and school paper advisers due to the announcement that did not only fail to execute well but also after the flawed release of official results exposed troubling lapses in organization and quality control. For a competition that trains young journalists to value accuracy and credibility above all else, the mishandling of its results was not merely disappointing, it was unacceptable.

HOax, HOax, HOax

The unjust state of our government once again shrugs off the brutal reality of poverty as it stands firm on Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque’s claim that ₱500 can fund an entire Noche Buena meal, as if a family can gather around dry spaghetti, half a can of fruit cocktail, and the cheapest possible ham. Even the enraged public already ridiculed the idea as tone-deaf, the Palace insisted the issue was “doability” and not realism.
Signed Emptiness

Amid ongoing scrutiny of mishandled public funds, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is once again at the center of public distrust after Education Secretary Sonny Angara revealed that more than 1,000 classrooms reported as "completed" were actually unfinished, with some lacking electricity, paint, or even proper flooring. These structures were registered as accomplishments, paraded as progress, and certified as handed over despite being unsuitable for learning. The government did not merely neglect its responsibility, but also signed off on emptiness.
Truth Swerving

Hypocrisy has once again awakened in the country as we welcome the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa. There could’ve been no better head start to this annual drill than a message from President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. that urged Filipinos to love the national language. Whereas every year comes with a different theme, however, it always meets the same end that once August ends, so too does the love for the Filipino language.
Rotten Facade

Following Typhoon Enteng, calls for donations included one initiated by the Antipolo City National Science and Technology High School (ACNSTHS) Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), but this promising effort has been tainted by the selfishness of some of its officers, who pocketed some of the donated clothes. Such disgraceful act shatters not only the organization’s accomplishments but, most importantly, the trust placed in them by the people who sought to aid those in need.

The reign of the current Student Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) administration has brought many achievements and firsts, one of which, for the first time in Antipolo City National Science and Technology High School (ACNSTHS), a lone partylist submitted their candidacy, securing their victory. This, however, is not a milestone, for this may be a “first,” but this should definitely be the last.
Long Overdue

It is no longer a gasp of surprise, but a frown of disappointment to see the results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022, as the Philippines ranked 77th out of 81 countries. Filipinos have long been accustomed to seeing such results that they no longer see them as alarming as they should be. Apart from the results, the assessment took place during the pandemic, which further excavates the root of the problem.
