PEER POWER TO EMPOWER is an international initiative arising from the real need to address the increasing levels of anxiety among young, disadvantaged people.
Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (KA220-YOU), the project seeks to turn vulnerability into strength thanks to peer support by delivering a series of workshops and a practical implementation guide.
In an increasingly complex world, anxiety has silently become one of the most pressing challenges for many young individuals, who are left alone to tackle with it, especially when they have fewer opportnities. Our mission is to put an end to this isolation.
When one young person supports another, meaningful change becomes possible. This is our belief and the concept at the base of the 3C Framework—Competence, Confidence, and Connection. By implementing this structured method, we aim to provide youth with the emotional and social tools they need to build resilience and lead fulfilling lives.
Our approach is built on three fundamental pillars:
Competence: entails practical skills and emotional intelligence to manage stress and life’s hurdles.
Confidence: is about self-esteem along with the belief in the power each young person owns to rewrite their story.
Connection: means sense of belonging and trust in peer-to-peer networks, which make no one feel alone in their struggles.
Following the Positive Youth Development principles, our method consists of workshops (competence, confidence, connection) meant to reduce anxiety and foster long-term empowerment in a supportive, yet effective, way.
Our project: the new generation of youth workers
This project is a collaborative effort bringing together expertise from across Europe. Together, we are developing practical, replicable and free resources for youth workers and volunteers to support the next generation. Since youth work plays itself a key role in mental health, we believe it is fundamenal to equip these mentors with our high-quality tools: an e-learning platform, a detailed implementation manual, and local pilot programs will ensure the creation of the qualified youth leaders of the future.
