"Gray Names" are a term to refer to people with gray usernames on Twitch, meaning they have never used the /color command to uniquely have a user color. This usernames are impossible to see on normal Twitch, but seen a lot on Dankchat and Chatterino. You can assume who is a gray name because they are often unsubbed and with the basic set of colors you can get if you don't have Prime. Although gray names started out as that, now any chatter with a personality similar to a gray names' would be called one.
Personality
Gray names, sometimes Twitter frogs or alike to them, usually don't know alot about Twitch and are big DSMP fans. Like Pisschatters, they spam, leak socials and personal information, and more.
History
The phrase "gray names" itself was popularized in Peechat in early to middle 2021 when it was pointed out how ugly the names looked. The term had already existed however, in other chats. It's unknown who truly thought up of it first, but it's still used today.
