Pessoa Effect signifies a communicative dispositif in use on digital social networks, blogs, websites and other locations in cyberspace and cybertime. It consists of a mode of unfolding the social personality of an author, be it a social scientist, a writer, a visual arts artist or any other author. Fernando Pessoa constructed several heteronyms. In the network society, it is possible to build digital heteronyms, through the following strategies: an internet user opens several e-mails, and assumes himself as a different author in each e-mail; or as a singular author on each social network. This seminal author produces not only heteronyms of authors, but also heteronyms of characters using different hybrid writing styles and / or languages. Such characters can be ordinary people, like those anonymous in pictures of famous painters who tell stories (that is, known strangers). Or famous characters in history, but containing an often hidden dimension (that is, unknown heroes). Some examples belong to the field of hybrid poetics about the Viral Society, which articulates text, images, videos and objects in 3D.
Some examples of Pessoa Effect:
1. The first is the app Pessoa Effect # 1: Poem to Corona Virus. There, an animated character, the statue of Fernando Pessoa. explains what Pessoa Effect means. And a character extracted from a painting, speaks the poem words. See below the last version.
2. Another illustration of the Pessoa Effect is the app Pessoa Effect # 2: Virus Era. This includes an animation about a character, Bob Dylan, reciting a poem about the Viral Society.
Contemporary society is contaminated by Corona virus, which is building a real viral society. Such new social paradigm includes, among other things:
viral economies and ecologies; viral policies, politics, politicians and powers; and as well viral discourses, cultures and arts.
In particular, viral sociological poetry emerges as a new poetic genre, an illustration of the Pessoa Effect. This Pessoa Effect means a communication dispositif used within digital social networks and other Internet locations. It is defined as a mode of development of the social, literary and artistic personality of an author, in terms of several heteronyms, including digital heteronyms proposed in cyberspace and cybertime. Within such posture, the present art work's author includes some videos where animated characters declaim a viral sociological poem, written as soon as 7 mars 2020.
This process is conveyed via innovative media, named hybrimedia, whose nature is different from its originary media's natures. In fact, this specific hybrimedia art work fusions multiple interactive media and content, e.g. sociological and critical texts, images, videos, animations and even a mini-symphony. And the user may read, comment, dialog and re-write the contents of the author’s poetry and accompanying media.
Thus, viral sociological poetry is essentially disseminated through digital methods, but also via digital and virtual media. E.g. via desktop apps and portable apps, called HRapps, as they use hybrid reality, an aggregation of "real", virtual, augmented and mixed realities.
Hybrimedia and Pessoa effect can be studied through a rising philosophy, Hybridology, that is to say, a theoretical reflection and practice in what regards hybrid entities, which nowadays dominate, or at least predominate, in our globalized and localized planet.
The present text is about Pessoa Effect in the Corona Virus era. Pessoa Effect is a social communication dispositif used inside digital social networks, blogs, sites, etc. It is defined as a mode of development in what regards the social, literary and artistic personality of an author, by using digital heteronyms. E.g. a user that writes and signs as a different author of multiple e-mails, may construct a digital heteronym in each one of these e-mails. Pessoa Effect may also be developed within the hybridization of media or hybrimedia: an author may present several different personalities (author heteronyms) or mix himself with characters (character heteronyms). This may be made through an app including poems, which is abbreviated as p-app, that is hybridized with an e-book containing poetry, or po-book. Thus, the medium resulting from such process is a form of hybrimedia, insofar it contains and fusion certain characteristics of one of these media and other features from the other medium. Nowadays, everything (social actors, authors, characters, readers, media, etc.) is being contaminated by Corona virus, which is building an emergent viral reality/viral society. Such new social paradigm includes, among other things: viral economies, technologies and ecologies; viral policies, politics, politicians and powers; and also viral discourses, cultures and arts. In this context, viral sociological poetry is a new poetic genre, which is mainly disseminated through digital methods and hybrimedia. E.g. via desktop or portable apps and ebooks, such as p-apps mixed with po-books, which belong to the broader genre of HR-apps, as they use hybrid reality (HR), meaning an aggregation of “real”, virtual, augmented and mixed realities.

The art work presented below in this page and in neXt page, is not just an app or only an e-book, but a fusion of an app and an e-book, that are mixed and hybridized in their characteristics. The application / app part of this work (windows, menus, buttons, etc.) is named poetry app or p-app, as its content is mainly poetry, And the interactive e-book part of this work (e.g. searching, marking pages, reading, highlighting words, writing, export content, etc.), as it is about an author's poem, is called poetry e-book or po-book.
In this p-app hybridized with a po-book, the author includes also some images he took while confined at home, Lisbon, the 8 April 2020. They are mostly images obtained via an iPhone from international and Portuguese TV news. This was a sort of sociological and hybrimedia day in the new viral life and society. Such social fabric will never be the same again, but will hopefully be transformed into a social arena more conscious and respectful for the Others' lives, that matter.
