Building Strength, One Box at a Time

Project Downtown Tampa provides hot food at least once a month, recognizing the ongoing need for this service. However, we aspire to increase the frequency of these hot meal distributions to ensure a more consistent source of comfort for the homeless community. We prepare these meals in addition to our turkey sandwiches because we think everyone deserves to have a hot meal prepared just for them out of compassion and love.

Especially in the winter months, as we bundle up, our friends Downtown suffer from increased appetite, frequent relocations, and scarcity of blankets. We conduct blanket drives to shelter those affected by the weather and purchase large cot relief blankets from NorthEast Fleece at a charitable discount, yet those are not enough and any additional donations by the community are greatly appreciated.

Notably, with the support of generous donations, we have been able to prepare and distribute 200 meal boxes during each session of the hot food program. These boxes contain nourishing, hot meals that make a significant difference in the lives of our friends downtown. The community's contributions play a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding this program, allowing us to extend our reach and provide warmth, care, and sustenance to even more individuals in need.
