The course formats at Pavia are structured a little differently than U of I ones.
Course length: University of Pavia courses can run for an entire semester (12 ECTS/6 credit hours) or for a quarter (6 ECTS/3 credit hours). Quarter-long courses can be compared to Part of Term A (POT A)/Part of Term B (POT B) courses at U of I.
Course structure: Depending on the Department, courses may meet one to three times a week for approximately two hours and class meetings may take the form of frontal lectures, discussions, or workshops.
Final exams: Final exams may consist of a written exam, a paper or an oral exam. Past UIUC students have adjusted well to this format with the proper preparation.
