September 2020
Welcome back to another year of piano lessons!
I'm excited to be seeing you all in person at least to get things started! Please review the COVID-19 checklist before electing to attend piano lessons in person.
At any time, you can select a distance lesson. Check your email for the link. I'll have my virtual studio room open while I'm teaching, wait for me there if you decide at the last minute that you'd prefer a distance lesson.
The tentative calendar for 2020 is here: Studio Calendar
Regarding workshops: I do have the space to host in-person workshops with up to 8 students under the current provincial guidelines. We will wear masks during workshops except when seated (6 feet apart) and I will sanitize touch surfaces including the keyboard between performances. Video Conference workshops are also an option for those who prefer it, although there may be fewer time options available due to logistics and numbers.

Spring 2018
Mini Recitals were a great success, it was great to see students working hard to produce quality performances for you all!
Several students participated the Nova Scotia Kiwanis Festival this April. I was very proud of the poise and confidence of all of my students. The adjudicators remarks were very positive and the mark range for all students was first class honors. Great work!
The Spring Recital will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd at 7pm. Doors open at 6:45 - at the Peggy Corkum Music Room. Tickets must be arranged in advance as this venue has limited seating.
Registration forms for 2018-19 will be going home during the week of May 13th, and are due back by June 1st.
If you know of any families who are looking to start lessons with me in the Fall, please let them know to contact me soon. Space is very limited and I will begin meeting with prospective new families beginning June 1st.
Winter 2017-18
Lessons resume on January 7, 2018.
Workshop Week: Feb 18-24 (no private lessons)
March Break, no lessons March 11-17. Studio Closed.
As we resume for the new year, students will be turning their focus towards our next performance opportunities which are in April with our In-Studio Mini Recitals in April beginning on Easter Monday, April 2. Many students are also preparing for the Kiwanis Music Festival, schedule to be announced. We will also be looking at focusing on one area for special focus or improvement. This will be approached individually. Areas to consider: sight reading, technical development, theory studies, practical chording, memorization skills.
Fall 2017
Kiwanis Music Festival Applications are due by November 27th, the festival takes place in April. This is a good opportunity for experienced students looking for a challenge. While the festival is a "contest," my focus is not on winning. Students are encouraged to choose a favorite piece or two and have fun performing it for others. Judging music can be very subjective, and, in my opinion, everyone who prepares and participates is a winner due to the value of the experience.
Our next big event will take place Saturday December 2nd as we share our love of music with the community and perform at a Seniors' Residence.
New Project: In-Studio Recordings
