PantaRei for me is a mantra that guides me constantly, every day, in every choice, in every moment I live.
"Everything flows" said Heraclitus.
Everything is in constant evolution, everything changes, everything is in the making.
We cannot oppose change, it is inherent in the being of things, it is the essence of existence itself.
Heraclitus uses the metaphor of the river to explain this concept: you cannot enter the same river twice and this is because the water that wet you the first time has already flown away. Yet the river always looks the same. This is also the case with the world: it is constantly changing and yet it is always the same.
The form of being is becoming, since everything is subject to time and transformation and even what seems static and still is actually dynamic.
I like to imagine our life as a boat sailing on this river. We can't stop, it would be unnatural, we can't oppose it, it would still take us away and we would make an enormous effort. The only thing we can do is go with the flow and draw all the energy and strength we need to reach our destination. We can take the best of every moment, enjoy it fully and draw inspiration and value from it.
If the world were static there could be no evolution, growth and improvement.
It is paradoxical (albeit obvious), however, that having become aware of this, by nature, human beings are afraid of change, because they are unstable, fickle, unpredictable, and therefore dangerous for their survival. That's why the human being shuns it, why routines and habits are so important and why, at the same time, they are so hard to break. Our brain is designed to survive and not make the species go extinct.
But what really matters today? Today that we no longer have to hunt against ferocious lions to survive?
Today what matters to me is to live.
Living: here, today, now. The only moment that makes sense to fully savor and enjoy.
Here is my little big world, full of so many experiences, reasoning, comparisons, ideas and dreams.
Small because if we contextualize it, it is an atom in an infinite universe. Big because it is mine, and my entire existence revolves around it. Existence that impacts, more or less directly, all the reality with which I come into contact. And without giving ourselves too much pride, it is fair to observe that the universe would not be the same without that atom. Because it itself is the sum of all the atoms, which if taken individually are nothing but together, they constitute the universe itself.
This is simply a place to put some order in the chaos of my mind and which I hope will also be an inspiration for those who will read this.
