In recent years, there has been a growing body of research by analytic philosophers exploring alternatives to physicalism and dualism in the philosophy of mind. There has also been a substantial increase of work devoted to examining alternatives to traditional theism and atheism. This project focuses on examining how work on panpsychism in the philosophy of mind and work on pantheistic and panentheistic conceptions of God can mutually inform one another. The project is particularly focused on cosmopsychism as a bridge between work in the philosophy of mind and the philosophy of religion.
This project is funded by a grant from The John Templeton Foundation (grant #62683) and is running from December 2022 through August 2025.
The project will include workshops by invitation only at Marist College and Durham University, a public debate at Marist College, a series of podcasts on the project theme for the Panpsycast podcast series, and three essay competitions on themes related to the project.
