Next Pack Meeting: 23 January - Pinewood Derby!
Scouting for Food is a nationwide event for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Food is collected by individual scouts and donated to a local shelter or food distribution center. In years past, Pack 556 has always donated to House of Hope, which is located at 16330 Los Gatos Blvd.
This job is short-lived. It requires a few hours in October and November.
Your responsibilities include:
In October, coordinating with House of Hope for food delivery day (typically scheduled for the last weekend in November)
Obtain several hundred “door hangers” from the council office. These are typically available in October. Call the office to see when they have any: 408-638-8300
Put them in bundles of 15, with an instruction sheet, for each scout.
Announce food collection dates/process to scouts and their families at the November pack meeting
Distribute door hanger bundles to the scouts at the November pack meeting
Get scout volunteers to weigh food at the collection point
Coordinate drivers to haul food from collection point to House of Hope on the day of delivery
Coordinate volunteer parents and scouts to unload the food at the House of Hope and stock shelves
