Interested in Joining?

Pack 556 is an active group of scouts in grades K-5, primarily from Los Gatos area schools with members from Van Meter, Blossom Hill,  Alta Vista, as well as Harker, St. Mary’s and Stratford.  The Pack is divided into grade-specific dens of typically no more than 10 scouts. Each den has one or more parent den leaders.

To join Cub Scouts and Pack 556, you need to complete the following steps:

1. Join the national scouting organization ("Scouting America"):  Complete an online application and submit the dues online. As of May 1, 2024, annual fees are $85.  

2. Join Pack 556:  Once you have joined the national organization, you will get an invitation from Scoutbook.com.  Scoutbook.com is a one-stop resource for scheduling, advancement and is available for free.

3. Current annual dues are $150.  Submit a check payable to “Pack 556” at any pack event or email pack556register@gmail.com once you’ve joined for the address to send your check.  You may also pay via Zelle (contact the Pack Treasurer, Cubmaster or Committee Chair for details). 

4. You will be notified of your den assignment over email.  In some cases, this may take a few weeks while we determine how many new scouts we have.  In some cases, we cannot assign scouts to dens until we have a den leader.

5. Complete the scout medical forms A & B.  Make a 2nd copy of this completed form.  Give both copies to your den leader — your den leader will keep one copy for den events;  the second copy will be kept for pack events.

6. Once you’re registered, check out pack556.com/after-you-join for what to do next!  You’ll need to get a uniform, handbook, and sign up for a volunteer job.
