No. Attendance at Den meetings, Pack meetings, or any of our special events is not mandatory.
Scheduling, and other reason may make it difficult to make every meeting and event.
However, we do encourage attendance at all events and meetings, as this is the primary method where the Scouts will work on their rank advancement requirements and special awards.
Keep in mind Cub Scouting is not an individual effort it is based on team building and social skill development. The more opportunity your scout has to engage in the activities we offer, the better Cub Scout experience they will have.
In addition to our hikes and camping trips, Pack 4338 organizes and takes part in many special activities throughout the year, including:
Annual Blue and Gold banquet
Overnight camps to various places
Pinewood Derby - Scouts Build Pinewood cars and then they get to race them.
Cub Scout Mobile Derby - riding cars down the race ramp
Rain Gutter Regatta - Scouts Build Sail Boats and then they get to race them.
Space Derby - Scouts build space rockets powered by rubber bands then they get to racing them.
Various Service Projects
Visits to Police/Fire station
Visits to museums and/or animal zoos
ā¦and lots lots more!
Our Pack hiking and camping events are in various locations through out the State and some are local.
Recently, weāve had overnight camping trips to:
Our local Schrock Park in Tuttle
Camp George Thomas in Apache Ok
John Nichols Camp in Mustang Ok
Robbers Cave State Park
Great Salt Plain State Park
Alabaster Caverns State Park
Yes. Each Scout must have a parent/guardian with them at all Pack and Den meetings, as well as our outings, camping trips, hikes, and other special events..
(Is this true for Webelos as well?)
Webelos Scouts are not required to have a parent/guardian at Pack or Den Meetings
However it is strongly encouraged that parents are involved at Den Meetings.
Pack meetings are events where your Scout will receive recognition for all their accomplishments, there-fore Parent participation at Pack meetings is "STRONGLY" encouraged.
Webelos Scouts are required to have a Parent or Legal Guardian on/at all overnight adventures.
Den meetings are held weekly on Tuesday evenings 6:30 - 7:30.
Pack meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of the month from 6:30 - 7:30
Check our calendar, then contact us to confirm the date, time, and location.
Note: Any change in meetings or events will always be posted in our communications board, Band.
At our Den meetings, the Scouts typically work on completing required and elective āadventuresā, which they do to earn ābelt loopsā and advance to the next Rank. Den meetings also usually include some fun extra activities, like games or arts and crafts projects.
At the monthly Pack meetings, the Scouts typically participate in a group activity, such as a game or a craft project. We then proceed with our opening ceremony, Pack announcements are made regarding upcoming events, and we usually have a guest speaker every month who gives a presentation to the Scouts. We choose guest speakers and presentations that will keep the Scouts interested and engaged, and that align with the core Scouting values.
We finish the Pack meetings with our awards ceremony, where Scouts are presented with the patches, belt loops, and other awards that they have earned since the previous Pack meeting, and then we conclude with our closing ceremony.
Pack and Den meetings are held at Schrock Park as long as weather and sunlight permit. When we are unable to mee outdoors at the park we meet at the First United Methodist Church of Tuttle. Always Refer to our communications board "Band" for the latest information of meeting times and location changes.
Pack 4338 does not require parents to volunteer. However, in addition to your Scouts participation, we also ask that all parents do some volunteer work at both the Den and Pack levels. We are an entirely parent-run organization (although we benefit, of course, from in place BSA programming), and the broader the participation the more fun it is for everybody, parents and Scouts alike.
No, but we do participate in the Cub Scout summer camp program offered by the Last Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts of America. This day camp is run for one week each summer at Camp George Thomas in Apache, Ok.
Yes we do. We have to. Some packs charge an annual fee aside from the BSA registration cost and fees. This would pre pay for all your activities and supplies required to run those activities.
Here in Pack 4338 we want to attempt to keep the cost down so that Scouting can be affordable for all Scouts. The only way to do this is buy running Fundraisers.
Are biggest Fundraiser is Popcorn. This is what generates most of our necessary funds to keep our program running.
We do run other Fundraisers through out the year such as Beef sticks, S'more kits, booths at special events, etc...
We do expect all Scouts and families to participate in our fundraisers.
Pack 4338 is an inclusive organization. We are open and welcoming to any family who wishes to participate in Scouting.
Boys and Girls between the age of 5 to 11 and/or grades kindergarten to 5th grade.
The leadership of Pack 4338 is made up of parents of Scouts who have generously volunteered to help the Pack. See our Leadership Role page for details on each position.
Our Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster oversee the entire Pack, and help determine what our Scouting program for each year looks like. The Cubmaster runs the monthly Pack meetings, with assistance from the other adult leaders.
Each Den has a Den Leader and Assistant Den Leader, who run the monthly/weekly Den meetings.
Other leadership positions include Charter Organization Representative, Committee Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, Quartermaster, Outdoor Coordinator, and more.
We also have several committees that are in charge of specific events, like our "Pinewood Derby" and "Blue & Gold Banquet" committees.
Parental help is welcomed, encouraged and always needed. If no parents volunteer then there is no Pack or Scouting.
Pack 4338 uses the Scoutbook web application to track advancement, awards, and other Scouting-related activities.
See "The Cub Scout Uniform" page for more information on what to wear at Scouting activities.
