CVT Tuning Test Rig

You can have tonnes of information about out our setup at this page. For starter this setup will account for weight, gradient, road profile, Tyre radius, gear ratio many other related parameter.

We have started with the engineering of the test rig and will get back to you soon. Mean while register your team with us so that we can discuss and get other things ready.

Variables to experiment on

1. The CVT : Use any CVT on our test rig, even a custom made one. We will make sure our test rig and your CVT gets along.
2. Center to Center Distance : Adjust your CVT center to center distance with accuracy of 0.5 mm (Not yet finalized and we are attempting to lower it down) and analyse what effect it has on your CVT higher and lower ratio, acceleration time, engagement RPM, shifting RPM, top speed, etc.
3. Reduction Ratio : We have carefully analysed the usual trend of gear ratios and deployed 200+ reduction ratios to match the performance. Here is the list of available reduction ratios and we are sure you will find one suiting your gearbox ratio.
4. Weight : Our test rig is capable to handle wide range of loading which consist of gradient loading corresponding to car weights from 100 kg to 200 kg and inertia loading corresponding to 100 kg to 250 kg covering all the competitive teams.
5. Gradient : One of the special features is to adjust the gradient loading and have driver pedal training on hill climb and weight pull event. All special conditioning that is needed for hill climb event can be done using our test rig. With actual effect of car's tendency to go backwards.
6. Special loads : We understand many of you are interested to go one step further and analyse effect of different forces like aerodynamic drag force, Tyre rolling friction force, etc.
7. We are ready to simulate any other situation on out test rig because even we are willing to go one step further to make sure that you successfully conduct all the experiments you want. For example analyzing temperature change during endurance, analyzing cooling fan's effect on CVT performance and temperature, effectiveness of CVT crafted fins for cooling, etc. Contact us to discuss these special tests.

Test Results

We are still working on this part but this is approximately what you will get.

• Database file for all sensor data.
• Engine RPM v/s Vehicle Speed - The standard graph every tuning procedure will need to analyse almost all basic parameters like engagement speed, shifting speed, overdrive rpm, top speed, etc.
• Distance vs Time Data - You will need this graph to compare 2 runs because the difference is very clearly visible in this data points.
• Acceleration v/s Time graph - This can be used for final stage fine tuning where in you can analyse if there are any sudden drops or rises in acceleration so as to get the last bit of acceleration time.
• *CVT actual shift - That is the linear distance traveled by moving pulley for the real pros and CVT design engineers.

*NOTE - This point is still under consideration. If there are few teams who want such data they will be charged accordingly and this should notify us at the time of initial discussion itself.
