University of Suwon

The University of Suwon International College is a new initiative to attract students to university programs in Korea taught entirely in English and Chinese. At present, the College operates all ESL and CSL courses as well as most of the subject courses not taught in Korean in the remainder of the university. With a foreign student enrollment of 600 and growing and a Korean student enrollment of 1500 capped in IC programs, the International College fills an important role in the life of the University of Suwon.

My role at the University of Suwon international college was to start and build a comprehensive support and management structure for providing instructional design, LMS support and online delivery management for the International College. This was particularly needed as the university main staff in IT and CTL were non English speakers. To start, I created a basic training program covering Instructional design, Universal design for learning and online delivery methods. In addition I introduced the idea of online student portfolios, use of media in place of assignments, using blended learning tools in the traditional f2f class environment and maximizing the features of the LMS.

On top of the main part of my job I also sat as an assistant professor teaching online courses for the department of mass communication.
