RMIT University

RMIT Vietnam is a satellite unit of Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia's largest tertiary academic institution. RMIT global has around 80000 students of which 10% are in Vietnam spread across 3 campuses with the main campus in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). The Vietnam programs focus heavily on Industry needs in the ASEAN region. The academics are built on foundations of Work Integrated Learning with industry partners, authentic assessment, group work and cross discipline collaborative learning.

The Major highlight of my time with RMIT was spent developing, implementing and managing a project known as Macro-Surgery.

This project was created as a way to achieve results related to academic development and course improvement while taking into consideration the factors affecting and the various needs of all stakeholders in the teaching and delivery process. My contribution to this project was as co-developer with Dr. Melanie Brown, Senior academic developer. Specifically, I drafted the outline, structure and sequence of all program components, developed the content of half of the modules and performed all instructional design and development of the program.

The development of this program was largely based on statistical data information. Most notably the results of Canvas course QA, student surveys, student visits to the academic assistance teams and library evaluation.

The success of this program is measured in several ways. The most important being an improvement in student survey scores as well as a decrease in student visits to academic support services and issues of academic appeal filed with the registrars office.

In addition to this major project I have been the sole provider of online development, coaching and management of online learning and teaching during the Covid-19 crisis. In conjunction with the larger education portfolio I created and managed a SharePoint site with resources to accomplish a large number of tasks in and around online and digital education delivery. The website called Deliv.ERS is available to both internal staff and by selections are hosted on the Vietnamese ministry of education portal.
