• Region: The Southwest corner of Friesland (South-West Friesland), with reception in Sneek, Bolsward, and Workum, among others.

Start and End Years
• Active period: Radio de Vredesduif was primarily active during the heyday of the Frisian 3-meter band: 1980 and 1981. In the autumn of 1980 and throughout 1981, they frequently appeared in the listener reports and charts of independent radio magazines. Around 1982, pressure from the National Police and the Radio Control Service (RCD) ( Renamed in AT Agend Telecom) and again Renamed in RDI Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur(2026)
in the Sneek region increased enormously, causing most stations from that specific generation to cease operations or transition into larger collaborations.
In the Sneek/Bolsward/Workum region, the Radio Control Service was very active at the time with direction-finding vehicles. Although De Vredesduif managed to evade capture a number of times by broadcasting from mobile stations or varying locations, local newspapers and Free Radio Magazine regularly reported at the time that transmitters in the southwestern corner of Friesland were being cracked down on hard. During such operations, the RCD, in cooperation with the national police, confiscated transmitting equipment, mixing consoles, and record players (often with an estimated value of thousands of guilders).

Given that I was already listening to the radio as a 9-year-old and later ran Radio Grensjager myself from 1978 to 1989, and lost everything in a fire in 2012—from logs to QSL stickers, etc., etc.—I am missing a part of the stories and DXing with fellow pirates.
Therefore, the above may be partially missing or incorrect. Are you or a descendant of Studio Tirol from the past? Do you still have video, photos, or jingle material? Please let us know.
