The first part of OVCO's TLAD (Tenant Leadership Against Displacement) project is officially live! Go to this link to find our 'Tenants' Needs Survey'. We want to hear from all tenants in the neighbourhood (Oakwood Vaughan and west Little Jamaica) - no matter what type of housing you are in! In addition, if you previously were a tenant in the area but you got displaced the survey is also for you!
If you aren't a local tenant please share widely with everyone you know who is/might be! This survey along with upcoming focus groups will provide the basis for growing tenant leadership and collective action in the neighbourhood.
Based on what we hear from the community, OVCO will be developing a course to train local tenants as Tenant Leaders next year (if funding is renewed). We will also be able to work with Oakwood Vaughan Tenant Union to provide a detailed idea of the resources needed in the community. So, please share widely!
Currently the survey is only available in English but we are working on translating it to common languages in the community. If you have any specific requests for language translations let us know at housing.ovco@gmail.com. In addition, if you want to hear more about our work and other affordable housing and tenant related updates email us and ask to be signed up for our Housing and Tenant mailing list!
This is an invitation to tenants who are living in the Oakwood Vaughan neighbourhood of Toronto, ON. Are you a renter living in the area south of Vaughan Road and north of St Clair Avenue West? We would like to have you at our next focus group held at the Oakwood Village Library. This is part of our TLAD (Tenant Leadership Against Displacement) project.
For those who live close to this area but just outside or in our larger focus area (see map in 2nd image) you are also welcome. Come out to share your experience and help us as we gather information on the needs of renters in this area.
We will have a time of community building, a good (free) meal, and childcare provided! We will also be giving away gift cards to attendees.
To get your tickets and for more details on accessibility go to our Eventbrite (see link above). Come and join us Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 5:30 pm– 30 spots available, get your tickets now!
Let's make a difference together:
Join hands with us for a brighter, stronger neighborhood!
