about me
Hi, my name is Dori (they/them). I am queer, trans, neurodivergent, and I am completely obsessed with fashion. When I first came out, one of the most important parts of that journey for me was redoing my entire wardrobe. Up until that point, clothing was nothing more than a mask for me to hide behind. After coming out, fashion quickly became one of my greatest sources of joy. Wearing fun clothes that express my personality has been so much more than a superficial makeover for me. It has radically transformed my confidence, my ability to connect with other people, and the amount of fun I have living my daily life. I became a personal stylist because I wanted to help other people experience that same euphoria!
I work with clients from all backgrounds, particularly the LGBTQ+ community, and I specialize in serving the transgender community. The reason I chose to specialize in working with trans clients is because there are so many unique challenges trans folks experience with fashion after coming out. It can be really overwhelming to navigate finding a new style, figuring out a new gender presentation, and often adjusting to a changing body - all at the same time. Plus, a lot of clothes aren’t designed to fit trans bodies which adds extra obstacles. Trans people shouldn’t have to figure all of that out by themselves! At the moment, there are no other personal stylists in Portland that focus specifically on fashion TRANSformations (sorry, I couldn’t help it). That’s why I created Out Of The Closet.
