This one was about 1.5-2m long and posed quite nicely for us.
The one hiding in the 'weeds' shown in the page header above, was a juvenile and only stuck around for two frames. Both were seen in Tortuguero NP during boat excursions.
The second image below is of a juvenile that was maybe just over a 1m in length. It was taken in the grounds of Esquinas Rainforest Lodge, just outside the restaurant, about 2m from the footpath back to our cabin!
A very brief glimpse as we passed over the Tarcoles River Bridge. With construction/repair work at the bridge, we couldn't stop for a better look.
A very large predator that must have been well over 4m in length. There can be hundreds of them at this location. Probably not the best place to go for a paddle.
