Clearly like other tropical countries around the world, there are many many species of insects in Costa Rica and one could (some do) spend a whole lifetime studying and cataloguing them. These are just a few that we encountered on our trip.
This one was seen near Guapiles in a butterfly 'aviary' or more accurately a lepidopterarium. We did see others in the wild during the trip.

Seen scurrying about during our night walk near Esquinas Rainforest Lodge. Somewhat larger than varieties found in the UK.

Ants seem capable of carrying impossible loads. This one seen near La Fortuna is carrying this flower head, what would to us be like carrying a wardrobe!
