Career Talk: From Academia to Industry

Dr. Michael Oldenburg is anaccomplished physicist with a passion for cutting-edge technologies and a diverse professional background. 


After successfully completing his PhD on the topic of 3rd generation photovoltaics at KSOP with Prof. Bryce S. Richards, he embarked on a remarkable career journey within the industrial sector. Displaying versatility and adaptability, he has worked across various departments, including technical sales, application engineering, and product management. These experiences have equipped him with a holistic understanding of the industry and an ability to navigate the intricate dynamics of business operations. 

Currently, he is excelling as a project manager at Trumpf, a renowned  company known for its LASER machines. Their most advanced laser system is currently used for EUV light generation, which is needed for the cutting edge lithography process. 


In his talk, he will give a technical presentation about Trumpf’s laser for EUV lithography, and also about his personal experience in transitioning from academics to industry.
