Dr. Andreas Frölich
Pursuing the Horizon : Journey of an Entrepreneur
Dr. Andreas Frölich is founder and CEO of Horizon Microtechnologies and a physicist by education. He has specialized in 3D nano-photonics (PhD: Prof. Wegener's Group, KIT). Apart from this, he also has separate educational experience in physics for life-sciences (M. Sc. From Université Joseph Fourier, Grenoble, France).
Horizon Microtechnologies is a contract development and manufacturing house. They solve customers’ challenges in the area of precision fabrication of parts with mm- to cm-dimensions and tolerances in the deep sub-mm region by using additive manufacturing in combination with a proprietary coating technology for applying thin, conformal layers of copper and other materials onto 3D microstructures. Horizon Microtechnologies is part of the business incubation program of the European space agency.
In his talk, Dr. Frölich will tell us about his transition from academia to industry and then to an entrepreneur. In second part of his presentation, he will tell us about Horizon microtechnologies as a company and will give a brief overview of fabrication technologies and how it it valuable to the customers.
