First Time Players - FAQs

1. Equipment - The Oshkosh Flyers Football Club provides all equipment with the exception of football cleats.  All new helmets were purchased in 2022 & 2023.  We also provide Guardians, which all players wear on their helmet (looks like a helmet pad) during all practices.  This adds another level of protection. We also provide a personalized jersey for each player, which has their last name on the back. Numbers are assigned first come, first serve basis by registration date.

2. Practices - Practices start August 5, 2024.  Practices always start at 5pm. End time varies throughout the season. We practice later in August. Once school starts and daylight fades, we end earlier.  Once school starts, we practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

3. Games - Games are always Saturday. A typical game day is 5th grade starting at 9am, 6th grade at 10:30am, 7th grade at noon, 8th grade at 1:30pm. We should have 4 home games and 4 away games. 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams will play a 9th game based on their standings in the league.  The first games will likely be August 24. We do not play Labor Day weekend. Season wraps up in late October. We won't have the schedule until July.

4. Safety - We take safety or our players seriously. We teach proper techniques to do our best to prevent injury. 

5. Coaches - All coaches are volunteers. All coaches are USAA certified and pass a background check. The majority of our coaches are parents of players. 

6. Cost - If you register before May 31, 2024, the cost is $200. We will never deny a child the opportunity to play based on cost.  If you need financial assistance, just reach out to us at oshkoshflyers@gmail.com.
