ur phantom eyes, our crystallized pain
2023-
When an eye is an eye itself and loses its gazing, images remain there as a phantom or memory. Pain is not an emotion, but a sensation which is most easily empathised with. When the water flowing from the eyes creates an ocean, you will be reborn once again from its amniotic fluid and will see a new body.

How to doubt our own bodies, which we take for granted as our own? How to empathise with others' bodies as if they were one's own? Starting from these two questions, anonymise the body by recapturing it anew as a flat image through the display. Then, by replacing the anonymised body with the image of someone else's body, we implant our senses into someone else's body. This series of practices is referred to as ‘hacking’. Through new gazes on the body in this practice, multiple bodies produce a body which belongs to no one. Then, this temporary + royalty-free body performs WET (weird erotic tension) movements that visualise ASMR. We will deepen this series of practices and put the theme of pain as a gateway to empathy for others and to the phantom body as seen in phantom pains+++
