Episode Description

The San Pedro River has been described as a river of hemisheric importance for the role it plays in hundreds of species of migratory birds journey north from South and Central America every year. It was the first "Globally Important Bird Area" designated by the American Bird Conservancy in the United States. It's the last major undammed river in the Southwest. But the 40 miles of the river located in the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area is being threatened by the pressence of cows. This podcast series will explore what threats cows pose to the San Pedro River, what environmental groups are doing to get cows out the river and why the BLM continues to allow cows to graze in the conservation area.
