Producers' Note

Welcome!

Thank you for coming to the first annual One Night Only! 24-hour play festival at Parish players! You are about to see some completely new theater that did not exist at this time yesterday.

This festival is an exercise in collaboration and being creative under a deadline. Yesterday at 7pm sharp, we told the writers the festival theme: the beginning. They got to work and spent the night writing until around 6:00 this morning when the directors arrived to read and discuss the plays. Then, the writers could leave while the actors arrived to audition.

After auditions, the directors, actors, and theater technicians worked hard all day to memorize lines, learn blocking, prepare sets and costumes, and more. Their work culminates in the show that you are about to see–which will start at 7pm, exactly 24 hours after the writers began.

Our goal for this weekend is to bring together theater enthusiasts, new and experienced, to make art, meet new people, and have fun. Theater usually takes a lot of time to make and not everyone can participate because of work, childcare, and other obligations. This festival is made for everyone to participate, you just need 1 day and the willingness to try something new.

To our 30+ amazing festival participants: Thank you for sharing your time and talents and for trusting us to steer the ship of this wacky idea. We can not wait to see what you all have made together.

The show that you are about to see was created in just one night and will only be performed once. Sit back, relax, and enjoy One Night Only!: a 24-hour theater festival!

We hope to see you next year,

One Night Only Producers
